Lead Azure Cloud Engineer

We are seeking a Lead Azure Cloud Engineer to play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and optimizing our Azure cloud infrastructure. In this role, you'll partner with Enterprise Technology Leaders, Managers, and cross-functional teams-including development, operations, and security-to build and maintain a secure, scalable, and high-performing cloud environment. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in Azure, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and cloud security best practices, with a focus on innovation, reliability, and operational excellence.

The company is located in Reston, VA and will be 5 days onsite.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Architect, implement, and manage scalable, secure Azure cloud infrastructure solutions.
  • Ensure availability, performance, and security across all Azure environments.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
  • Collaborate on hybrid deployments across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Monitor and optimize infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues escalated from support or discovered in development/design phases.
  • Stay current on emerging Azure technologies and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement.
  • Produce and maintain system documentation, including requirements, architecture diagrams, and design specifications.
  • Bonus experience: M365, Intune, PP&C, UEM, IAM.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience as an Azure Cloud Engineer or equivalent role.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure service models (Serverless, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
  • Hands-on experience with cloud security, compliance, and cost optimization (Azure Security Center, Azure Policy).
  • Azure certifications required (minimum: Azure Administrator).
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills.
