Job Title: Lead Engineer OMS (Order Management Systems)
Location: 100% Remote (Client based in Grand Rapids, MI)

Job Summary

We are seeking a Lead Engineer OMS to provide deep technical leadership across a large, distributed Order Management ecosystem. This role owns architecture, integration strategy, cloud modernization, CI/CD excellence, and operational resiliency across 70+ OMS repositories and services.

You ll work closely with Digital, DevOps, SRE, Architecture, and partner teams to ensure scalability, reliability, and correctness across mission-critical order and fulfillment flows.

Key Responsibilities

OMS Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Own and evolve end-to-end OMS architecture across Yantra, Digital Services, Hybris/SAP Commerce, and Mirakl integrations
• Define and enforce service boundaries, API contracts, event schemas, and dependencies
• Lead architecture decisions through ADRs, design reviews, and governance forums
• Champion multi-cloud active/active and resiliency patterns

Distributed Systems & Event-Driven Design

• Architect event-driven workflows using Kafka, service bus queues, async handlers, and orchestrations
• Implement resiliency patterns: retry, idempotency, sequencing, compensation, error recovery
• Drive messaging standards across dozens of OMS microservices

Cloud, Infrastructure & Operations

• Lead cloud modernization across Azure (AKS, ARO, APIM, CosmosDB, Azure SQL) and Google Cloud Platform (GKE, Cloud SQL/AlloyDB)
• Define failover, scaling, traffic routing, and resiliency strategies
• Enable deep observability using OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, structured logging, tracing, synthetic monitoring

CI/CD & Engineering Excellence

• Modernize pipelines, build governance, and GitHub migrations
• Enforce quality gates using SonarQube, Veracode, JaCoCo
• Establish standards for versioning, artifacts, manifests, and multi-service releases
• Champion zero-downtime deployments

Integration & Platform Leadership

• Act as OMS integration authority for Hybris, AEM, Mirakl, Instacart, Shipt, Buncha, and other enterprise platforms
• Drive LaunchDarkly feature-flag strategies
• Ensure API consistency, backward compatibility, and smooth partner onboarding

Data, Testing & Quality

• Provide architectural direction for CosmosDB, Azure SQL, Liquibase, ADF ETL pipelines
• Define performance, integration, and E2E test strategies
• Partner with SDET/EQE teams to improve automation and environment isolation

Mentorship & Cross-Team Leadership

• Mentor senior engineers and DevOps teams
• Drive alignment across Product, Platform, Architecture, and Business stakeholders
• Lead change management for large OMS initiatives

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven Lead Engineer experience in large, distributed microservices environments
• Strong Java / Spring Boot expertise (plus familiarity with .NET)
• Deep experience with REST APIs, contract-first design, and integration patterns
• Kafka & event-driven architectures
• Azure cloud expertise (AKS/ARO, APIM, CosmosDB, ADF, Functions)
• CI/CD with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Helm, Docker, YAML pipelines
• Strong understanding of data consistency, latency, and cross-cloud sync challenges
• Hands-on experience with OMS, Hybris/SAP Commerce, Mirakl 3P marketplaces

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience migrating large portfolios from ADO to GitHub
• Background in SRE or reliability engineering
• Retail fulfillment and order-orchestration domain experience
• Prior multi-cloud modernization initiatives
