LEAD FULL STACK SOFTWARE ENGINEER (COMPONENTS)

The Components team is looking for an experienced Lead Full Stack Software Engineer to develop advanced software which will increase efficiency of the qualification and testing of flight hardware. As a lead software engineer, you will guide your team to design novel solutions that will have a wide-reaching impact on the Starship, Falcon, Dragon, and Starlink space vehicle programs. These improvements in software infrastructure will enable your peers to reach maximum effectiveness through applications, user interfaces, fleet management, drivers, dashboards, analysis, or other process improvements necessary to achieve our goals of advancing the space program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide strong technical leadership with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Manage projects and delegate responsibilities effectively to complete work on time
  • Determine team goals to effectively reduce software maintenance burden
  • Own all aspects of software development, including design, testing, and mission integration
  • Deep dive into your users' problems to find and create efficient solutions
  • Create new applications that improves the automated testing lifecycle including web applications, drivers, dashboards, and alerting tools

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, physics or other engineering discipline
  • Experience in full stack development
  • 5+ years of development experience in object-oriented language
  • 2+ years of experience with Linux operating systems

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Developed, debugged and deployed software that has been used in real world applications and projects
  • Experience leading a team of diverse individuals
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Thorough knowledge of computer architecture and networks
  • Creative approach to problem solving, exceptional analytical skills and engineering fundamentals
  • Programming experience in Python, C#, .NET, Java, or similar object-oriented language
  • Developed, debugged and deployed software that has been used in real world applications and projects
  • Experience with build systems like Make, Bazel/Pants/Buck or Gradle and package management tools such as pip, npm
  • Experience with UNIX-like operating systems and tools like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet for managing them
  • Production experience with Docker or other container and deployment tools
  • Front-end experience in Angular, React, or similar JavaScript framework
  • Database experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar database technologies

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willing to work extended hours as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Lead Software Engineer: $160,000.00 - $220,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
