Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer for a full-time position with one of our premier insurance clients in New York, NY or Bethlehem, PA. Hybrid schedule 3x weekly onsite. This senior-level role sits within a small, elite team responsible for architecting, developing, and evangelizing internal developer tools and platforms that improve delivery speed, automation, and reliability.
You'll be joining a highly autonomous, hands-on team tasked with driving delivery excellence across the organization-reducing deployment lead time from weeks to minutes-by building scalable, self-service tools and infrastructure on AWS and GitHub.

You'll be joining a highly autonomous, hands-on team tasked with driving delivery excellence across the organization-reducing deployment lead time from weeks to minutes-by building scalable, self-service tools and infrastructure on AWS and GitHub.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build internal development platforms and tooling to improve developer productivity and CI/CD efficiency.
- Architect and implement new solutions from scratch, demonstrating creativity, grit, and technical depth.
- Develop GitHub workflows, integrations, and CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or CircleCI.
- Use Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) to manage and automate scalable AWS environments.
- Collaborate with engineers across the org to identify friction points and build tools that permanently resolve root causes.
- Serve as a technical evangelist for modern platform engineering practices and delivery excellence.
- Contribute to architecture, product selection, and hands-on implementation within a senior, fast-moving engineering team.
- 8+ years of software or platform engineering experience, ideally with developer tooling and internal platforms.
- Deep hands-on experience with GitHub (advanced workflow design, repo management, and integrations).
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and related tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI).
- Proficiency in Terraform or other IaC tools for AWS infrastructure automation.
- Skilled in Python, Java, or Bash scripting to build and automate platform capabilities.
- Demonstrated success building tools or frameworks from scratch-professionally or personally.
- Experience in AWS environments with exposure to monitoring, observability, and performance optimization.
- Grit, adaptability, and curiosity; not afraid to learn new technologies and solve new problems.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a senior, high-accountability team.
