Lead Software Engineer

Are you ready to revolutionize the world of small and medium enterprises (SMEs)? Mastercard is on the hunt for elite engineers to join our SME Unified Business Experience team. We're crafting groundbreaking global products that deliver unparalleled features and platforms to SMEs across the globe.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll be the driving force behind the design, development, and delivery of robust, scalable, and high-performing software solutions. Your visionary leadership will shape our technical strategies, inspire our elite engineering team, and ensure the triumphant execution of pioneering projects. You will be an expert in both front-end and back-end technology stacks, working closely with enterprise architects and product management to define features and user stories.

Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise: Mastery in front-end and back-end technologies.
Collaboration: Work closely with enterprise architects and product management to define features and user stories.
Development & Maintenance: Contribute to day-to-day system development and maintenance activities to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
Innovation: Create solutions with high levels of innovation, cost-effectiveness, quality, and faster time to market.
Training: Provide technical training to other team members.
Process Improvement: Actively seek opportunities to enhance standards and improve process efficiency.
Production Support: Support services in production.
Communication: Ensure iterative delivery dates across a continuous development lifecycle are met, while identifying emerging issues.

Qualifications:
Front-End Expertise (Must-Have): Deep experience with modern front-end frameworks including React, React Native, Vue.js, Ext JS, and Node.js. Proven ability to build scalable, performant, and accessible user interfaces.
Micro-Frontend Architecture: Hands-on experience designing and implementing Micro-Frontend solutions to enable modular, independently deployable UI components across large-scale applications.
Module Federation (Webpack 5): Utilized for dynamic runtime code sharing and seamless integration between micro-frontends.
Single-SPA: Orchestrated multiple frameworks within a unified application shell.
Web Components: Built reusable, framework-agnostic components using standards like Custom Elements and Lit.
Backend Proficiency (Differentiator): Strong command of Java, Spring, REST APIs and Microservices. This backend expertise enhances full-stack leadership and architectural decision-making.
Architecture & Design: Experience with Cloud-Native Architecture, Microservices, and MicroFrontends, ensuring modularity, scalability, and maintainability.
Leadership & Mentorship: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, and drive technical excellence across UI and backend domains.
Security Awareness: Familiar with secure coding practices and standards such as OWASP, CWE, and SEI CERT.
Project Delivery: Track record of delivering complex features and projects on time and within budget, with a focus on quality and stakeholder satisfaction.
Problem Solving: Skilled in addressing challenges related to scalability, resilience, security, and system robustness.
Database Management: Experience with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB).
SDLC & Agile Practices: Proficient in Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe, with the ability to adapt practices to project needs.
Engineering Excellence: Strong foundation in core engineering principles including security, customer experience, testing, operability, and SaaS architecture.
Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative mindset and strong relationship-building capabilities.
Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
