CentOS to Red Hat Migration Expert

We are seeking an experienced and skilled CentOS to Red Hat Migration and Refactoring Applications Engineer to lead our organization's efforts in transitioning from CentOS to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and managing the migration and refactoring of various applications and services to ensure a seamless and efficient transition.

Essential Functions and Duties:

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive migration plan and strategy for transitioning from CentOS to RHEL
• Conduct thorough assessments of existing CentOS-based applications, services, and infrastructure components.
• Identify potential challenges, risks and dependencies during the migration process.
• Stay current with emerging networking trends & technologies and make recommendations for adoption.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to align network initiatives with overall business objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and effective communications throughout the migration lifecycle.
• Proactive patch management and security first methods for vulnerabilities management updates
• The candidate should exhibit excellent communication abilities, including the competence to present and justify ideas and solutions persuasively. They must be adept at creating business-centric presentations and articulating complex concepts in an understandable and actionable way for leaders with varying levels of technical expertise.
• Application Refactoring and Compatibility:
• Analyze existing applications and services for compatibility with RHEL environment.
• Proactively identify and troubleshoot network infrastructure issues.
• Migration Execution and Testing:
• Ensure compliance and industry-standard security practices from DMI infosec.
• Execute migration plan and transition apps/services and infrastructure components to RHEL either azure or on-prem.
• Experience developing network and security architecture artifacts (architecture models, guiding principles, patterns, standards, and related taxonomy.
• Implement hardening measures to RHEL environment that will scale over time.
• Documentation and Knowledge transfer:
• Develop comprehensive documentation detailing the migration process and configuration changes.
• Provide training and knowledge transfer sessions to relevant teams and stakeholders on the new RHEL environment.
• Troubleshoot complex problems and develop innovative solutions daily on our network.
• Continuous Improvement:
• Monitor and analyze the performance of migration applications and services for observability with dashboard analytics.
• Strong proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, python, Perl) and automation tools
• Experience in Linux system administration, package management, and config management tools (Ansible, puppet, Chef, Arc)

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Proven experience in migrating and refactoring applications from CentOS to other Linux distributions to RHEL.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
• Experience with application containerizations technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Solid understanding of network infrastructure and hardware
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities effectivity.
• Adept ability to create and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower downtime due to required human intervention.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
