General Summary:

The Multimedia Power team has an exciting opportunity to analyze and improve power efficiency of best-in-class Camera, Video encoding/decoding, and Computer Vision technologies. These technologies are at the heart of millions of Snapdragon devices used across the globe. The team is responsible for power analysis, budgeting, estimation, and optimization of all multimedia use cases. We are looking for a Staff level Engineer with experience in low power HW design and expertise in Industry standard Power estimation and optimization tools. Your work will have the potential to shape the most power efficient devices in the hands of millions of Snapdragon users.

Responsibilities of this role include:

You will be part of a 10+ power team, diagnosing Power Tool related technical issues

HW Core level power target definition, power optimization and ensuring power targets are met through SOC execution

Working closely with System, Design, and Verification teams to define and update Multimedia use cases for core power analysis

Analyzing and Estimating power using industry tools Industry standard Power estimation and optimization tools such as Synopsys PrimeTime PtPx, Ansys Power Artist, Siemens PowerPro etc.

Validating power estimates against Silicon measurements for different use cases

Providing required support for Multimedia cores power optimization and average/peak power estimation throughout the design cycle from pre RTL to post Silicon

The environment is fast-paced and requires daily cross-functional interaction. Good communication skills, planning, and a high standard of execution discipline are required

Key Qualifications

BSEE with 10+ years of relevant experience, or MSEE with 8+ years of relevant experience

Excellent understanding of state of the art Industry standard Power estimation tools such as Synopsys PrimeTime PtPx, Ansys Power Artist / etc..

Good understanding of synthesis, static timing analysis, and physical design flows

Good understanding of low power design techniques for power reduction, setting power target for HW cores, pre-Si power estimating, and post-Si power measurements

Familiarity with SoC architectures and system-level design practices

Familiarity with HW design and verification tools is a plus

Familiarity with Multi-media IPs (Camera/Video codecs/Computer Vision) is a plus

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.

Pay range:
$156,500.00 - $234,500.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.
