The Opportunity
The Adobe Document Cloud's AI Team is looking for an experiencedMachine Learning Manager to help with a variety of AI related projects including generative AI. We are responsible for technologies for building, manipulating and consuming PDF files across a range of services, mobile apps and desktop products. The flagship PDF application within DC is Adobe Acrobat, which is installed on over a billion devices and opens billions of PDFs every year. Our offerings extend beyond Acrobat to Adobe Sign, Document Cloud Platform, and Adobe Scan.

Our mission is to use ML to build new experiences with documents, across our entire suite of offerings. Our most recent public features are Liquid Mode, allowing a seamless reflow experience for PDFs phones and tablets; PDF Extract API for unlocking the structure and content elements of any PDF; Table Decomposition feature in Liquid Mode; and now new generative AI features. All products are driven by AI. Our solutions are deployed on mobile devices, in the cloud, and on desktop.

What you'll Do
  • As a ML Manager, you will have a wide range of responsibilities and opportunities to make significant impact on building the future of documents in DC AI team:
  • Lead a team to build and deliver new AI-driven customer-facing features end-to-end: from working closely with Adobe Research to technical design and security assessment, pipeline implementation, and delivery of customer facing features. You will take the ownership of the software's life cycle process; evolve and drive software quality and delivery process improvements by making data-driven decisions.
  • Advocate for scientific and engineering excellence: You will contribute to the architecture and high-level structure of our AI-driven features.
  • Collaborate closely with customers, partners, consultants, product management and multi-functional teams to keep the development team aligned with product goals
  • Craft a winning culture built on collaboration, visibility, diversity, inclusivity and shared accomplishments - have fun along the way.
  • Attract, hire, on-board and retain top talent, supporting and developing the team through mentorship and ongoing feedback
What you need to succeed
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional machine learning and software development experience -- 3+ years of management and leadership experience leading research and engineering teams delivering large-scale, sophisticated, high quality software.
  • Technical Background: Knowledge of generative AI and experience with Python. Excellent analysis, and problem-solving skills. Proven knowledge of data structure and algorithms. Knowledge of ML Ops. Familiarity with ML services is a plus.
  • Proven track record of strong Leadership and Decision-Making skills to drive consensus on requirements and ensure timely delivery of critical customer-facing AI features. Your ability to provide guidance, prioritize tasks, and lead people optimally will be crucial to the team's success.
  • Team Development: A strong record of developing, leading, coaching, and mentoring software and machine learning engineers and scientists is vital.
  • Cultivate a positive and growth-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work within a distributed international team environment.
  • MS/PhD in computer science or a related technical field.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this positionis $137,500 -- $277,900 annually. Paywithin this range varies by work locationand may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills,and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.

At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
