Job Details

Title: Mainframe Developer
Duration: 6+ Months
Location: Remote
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing mainframe applications in support of business processes. The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills in IBM mainframe environments and hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and related tools.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, implement, and support mainframe applications and components.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Perform enhancements, modifications, and bug fixes to existing applications.
  • Develop and execute unit test cases, support system integration testing and UAT.
  • Create, maintain, and optimize batch jobs using JCL.
  • Work with CICS transactions and develop/maintain online programs.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries for DB2 and other database systems.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and participate in on-call support as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, business analysts, and product owners.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security, architecture, and coding standards.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design documents and runbooks.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Mainframe Developer or Programmer Analyst.
  • Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, TSO/ISPF.
  • Experience working with File-AID, Abend-Aid, Endevor/Changeman (or similar tools).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and DevOps practices.
  • Ability to analyze complex systems and debug production issues effectively.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
  • Experience with IMS DB/DC.
  • Knowledge of REXX, CLIST, SMP/E, or automation tools.
  • Experience with REST/SOAP integrations or modernization projects.
  • Exposure to cloud, microservices, and mainframe modernization technologies.

  • Ability to work independently and in collaborative teams.
