Job Description: Strategic Technology Partners LLC ( ) has an immediate opportunity for a Mainframe Performance and Capacity Planning Engineer who specializes in IBM z/OS performance and capacity. Qualified applicants will be SME in defining and evaluating z/OS-based performance data as well as establishing trends and workload forecasts. They must also be well-versed in writing policies and defining classes for WLM. A working knowledge of real time monitoring tools is also required. Experience with developing or modifying SAS/MXG programs to analyze z/OS source data (SMF, RMF) and/or scripting to analyze Linux system and Informatica logs is a big plus.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Prior experience with all aspects of mainframe performance and capacity planning including batch, CICS, DB2, MQ, network, storage and DB2 Connect
  • Working knowledge of real time monitoring tools (TMON, Performance Analyzer and Omegamon)
  • Experience with developing or modifying SAS/MXG programs data is required
  • Must have experience working with SMF and RMF record types to analyze mainframe performance and capacity
  • Prior experience doing mainframe performance and capacity for very large volume batch-oriented systems is required
  • Experience working with systems programmers to establish report classes in support of batch workload analysis
  • Prior experience as a mainframe/MVS/Z/OS systems programmer is a plus
  • Prior experience with performance and tuning of large-scale batch Java applications running on Z OS (or Linux on Z) is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required for this position

Education Requirement: A bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or Engineering is preferred

Security Requirement: A Department of Treasury Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) is required for this position. Proof of U.S. Citizenship or a is required. No exceptions can be made, as this is required by the government contract. Candidates with an active Department of Treasury Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) are preferred.

Location: The position is located in New Carrollton, MD. Some remote support may be allowed at the discretion of the customer.
