Senior Software Engineer Mainframe Systems Operations Monitoring Engineer 25-01045
Duration: 6 months
Location: Reston, VA (100% Remote)
Work Hours: Night shift only between 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM ET
Assigned 10-hour shifts, 4 days/week
Weekend and holiday support required
Key Responsibilities
Full-time hands-on night shift role focused on mainframe support and monitoring
No development work involved
Monitor and triage mainframe batch jobs, system alerts, and operational issues
Handle queued-up requests, timeouts, and perform initial troubleshooting
Follow SOPs and runbooks independently in a small team environment
Required Skills & Experience
Mainframe Technologies: JCL, DB2, zOS, CICS, COBOL
Monitoring Tools: Experience with DataDog, BigPanda, or Splunk
Scheduling Tools: Strong experience with Control-M
Issue Resolution: Must be able to resolve mainframe Java bands
Operations Monitoring: Solid experience in batch job monitoring, system alerts, and triage
Independence: Must be a seasoned professional capable of working independently
Location Requirement
Candidates must reside in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) or West Virginia area.
