Role Overview:

The Mainframe and MQ Engineer responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of IBM MQ messaging infrastructure within a z/OS mainframe environment. This role ensures high availability, performance, and security of MQ systems and supports application teams in integrating messaging solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage all phases of MQ engineering and operations in a 24x7 large-scale prod environment.

Define and configure MQ resources such as channels, queues, and queue managers.

Support MQ in batch and CICS environments.

Perform MQ software upgrades, patching, and maintenance.

Troubleshoot and resolve MQ-related issues, including interfacing with IBM Support.

Monitor MQ performance and tune systems for optimal throughput.

Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.

Collaborate with distributed MQ teams and application developers for migration.

Maintain security configurations using RACF or CA-Top Secret.

Document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting guides.

Required Skills & Experience:

15+ years of experience in MQ engineering on z/OS.

Strong understanding of MQ Data Sharing and High Availability concepts.

Experience with MQ Performance & Tuning and Monitoring tools (e.g., Sysview, CA-Neumics Analyzer).

Familiarity with z/OS components: APF, Link list, LPA, VSAM.

Knowledge of CICS TS V6.1+ and SMP/E.

Experience with Java, Kafka, and MQ Confluent Connectors in mainframe environments.

Strong analytical and communication skills.

Ability to work on-call and outside regular hours when needed with Global teams
