MAINTENANCE ENGINEER(Food Production Facility ? Central Virginia)

Salary: $80K - $120K- Commensurate with experience

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to oversee the maintenance and performance of equipment at a high-volume food processing and packaging facility in central Virginia. This hands-on role involves preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and continuous improvement to minimize downtime and support production efficiency. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who can lead maintenance operations, communicate effectively with production teams, and ensure smooth equipment functionality across all departments.

This position requires on-call availability for emergency maintenance issues and includes approximately six weeks of initial training at another company facility in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Key Responsibilities

? Perform and document preventative maintenance and repairs on industrial food production and packaging equipment.
? Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues to maintain equipment uptime.
? Conduct diagnostics and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
? Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts and tools to minimize downtime.
? Supervise and train maintenance technicians, ensuring adherence to procedures and safety protocols.
? Collaborate with operations and production teams to improve equipment performance and reliability.

Required Skills & Qualifications

? 3?5+ years of experience in industrial or commercial maintenance, ideally in food manufacturing, packaging, or distribution environments.
? Strong mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and facility maintenance skills.
? Proficiency with hand and power tools and ability to read schematics and technical drawings.
? Intermediate computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office or maintenance management software.
? Proven ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain complex industrial systems independently.

Preferred Experience

? Welding and/or HVAC experience.
? Advanced electrical knowledge, including low-voltage control wiring and schematic interpretation.
? Familiarity with processing and packaging equipment brands such as Urschel, Lyco, Vanmark, Ultrasource, Matrix, Mettler Toledo, or comparable systems.
? Certifications in Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, or HVAC a plus.
