Maintenance Technician Maintenance Technician - Chemical Plant Location: Fontana, CA Employment Type: Full-Time Industry: Chemical Manufacturing Job Summary Key Responsibilities Qualifications Physical & Safety Requirements What We Offer
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Maintenance Technician to join our team at a high-performance chemical manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems to ensure optimal plant operations. This role requires a strong understanding of industrial equipment, preventative maintenance protocols, and strict adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance on pumps, valves, compressors, heat exchangers, and other process equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and control systems
- Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime
- Assist in equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
- Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and performance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and plant-specific safety standards
- Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred
- 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a chemical or manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in mechanical systems, electrical troubleshooting, and instrumentation
- Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, and industrial automation systems is a plus
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and respond to emergency calls
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces or elevated areas
- Must wear appropriate PPE and follow all safety protocols
- Exposure to chemicals, high temperatures, and loud environments may occur
