Maintenance Technician Maintenance Technician - Chemical Plant Location: Fontana, CA Employment Type: Full-Time Industry: Chemical Manufacturing
Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Maintenance Technician to join our team at a high-performance chemical manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems to ensure optimal plant operations. This role requires a strong understanding of industrial equipment, preventative maintenance protocols, and strict adherence to safety and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on pumps, valves, compressors, heat exchangers, and other process equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and control systems
  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime
  • Assist in equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
  • Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and performance
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and plant-specific safety standards
  • Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred
  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a chemical or manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in mechanical systems, electrical troubleshooting, and instrumentation
  • Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, and industrial automation systems is a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and respond to emergency calls
Physical & Safety Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces or elevated areas
  • Must wear appropriate PPE and follow all safety protocols
  • Exposure to chemicals, high temperatures, and loud environments may occur
