We're looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join our organization

on 6-months contract to build and lead our Billing/Subscription/Cloud Engineering Platform team. This role is central to our mission of delivering innovative and scalable solutions that empower our engineering teams and strategic partners. Your focus will be on cultivating a team culture that thrives on collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence, ensuring that every team member has the support and resources to grow. By developing a cohesive strategy for our client platforms, you will empower the team to build scalable solutions that enhance our organization's ability to integrate new capabilities at scale. This includes ensuring that our products leverage cutting-edge technologies and align with best practices, allowing us to deliver exceptional user experiences.

Your work will directly impact on our ability to harness data and insights to make informed decisions across our products, enabling teams to create features that resonate with our customers' needs. By collaborating closely with cross-functional partners across our organization, you will ensure that our platform solutions are aligned with business goals and optimized for performance. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on leadership, allowing you to shape the technical vision while driving the execution of critical initiatives. The work you do will set the foundation for our organization's ability to use analytic insights to continuously refine our products, ultimately leading to more personalized and impactful user experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead & Develop Teams: Build, mentor, and manage a team of talented engineers across iOS, Android and Web platforms, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance. Drive Platform Excellence: Lead the design and development of integrations, apps, or solutions tailored for the Shopify platform, ensuring seamless performance and alignment with Shopify's APIs, standards, and merchant ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with Partners: Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and Shopify stakeholders to drive technical strategy, product fit, and go-to-market readiness for joint initiatives. Innovate & Implement: Identify opportunities to integrate new technologies and methodologies into our engineering practices, ensuring our platforms remain robust and scalable.
  • Drive Performance & Quality: Advocate for best practices in code quality, testing, and performance, ensuring the team builds scalable and maintainable solutions.

Qualifications:
  • 7 years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role managing engineering teams.
  • Strong technical background in any programing language like Java, Python, C, C++.
  • Experience in working with Subscription integrations with vendors like Stripe, Recurly etc..
  • Proven experience building on or integrating with the Shopify platform, including familiarity with Shopify APIs, app development, and merchant-focused solutions.
  • Proven ability to mentor, develop, and inspire a diverse team of engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Collaboration & Communication:
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product, UX, and other stakeholders to define requirements, set expectations, and deliver on project goals.
  • Problem-Solver: Strategic thinker who can identify challenges and opportunities, implementing solutions that deliver measurable impact.

The pay range for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries at commencement of employment and is expected to be between USD$146,000-216,000/year. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including role, job-related knowledge, skills, relevant education and experience.
