Manufacturing Engineer
Ducommun's Appleton Performance Center is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, workflow, throughput, space utilization and product quality based on knowledge of product design, materials, parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, capabilities, assembly and quality assurance standards.

Standard EssentialFunctions

- Develop and improve manufacturing processes as required to meet production demand. \n
- Work with the NPD team to deliver new products on time. Includes: capacity and capability assessment, process selection and development, SOP development, cell design & implementation, control plan development and capital project justification & implementation. \n
- Lead continuous improvement activities to improve manufacturing operations. \n
- Lead Kaizen events as needed. \n
- Interface with colleagues, customers, vendors and others to understand requirements, assess feasibility of new/existing products, and improve production techniques. \n
- Analyze technology trends, plans and executes capital projects. \n
- Define Process and equipment capabilities. \n
- Clearly communicate data and feedback to other departments so decisions can be timely and optimized. \n
- Apply Lean Manufacturing techniques to develop flow through manufacturing processes. \n
- Champion the use of lean manufacturing principles, based on systems thinking and the application of statistical methods, throughout the assigned manufacturing cells. \n
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures. \n
- Determine root cause and corrective action of non-conforming product and disposition MRR in Baan. \n
- Complete all Corrective Action Records (CAR's) assigned in a timely manner. \n
- Red line travelers and create rework planning. \n
- Make planning changes in Master Planning and work orders in BAAN. \n
- Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area. \n
- Performs other assignments as required. \n
Required Experience and Education
- \n
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, scientific, or a technical discipline or associates degree in related field with a combination of 2 years relevant work experience required. \n
- 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment required. \n
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical and statistical concepts. \n
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. \n
- Experience with project management required. \n
- Lean Six Sigma Training and experience is required. \n
Desired Skills
- \n
- Master's degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline is desirable. \n
- Six Sigma Greenbelt certification preferred. \n
- Experience in an electronics or contract manufacturing environment. \n
- Leadership skills are strongly preferred; the ability to influence others is essential. \n
