Description:
- Manufacturing Engineering at Cardinal Health is responsible for developing and optimizing manufacturing processes, designing production floor layouts, and creating tools to support efficient operations. This role ensures new product designs are manufacturable and drives continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs, shorten cycle times, and enhance product quality.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain documentation for new and improved manufacturing processes.
- Author and execute process validations.
- Recommend equipment purchases based on manufacturing requirements.
- Conduct equipment qualifications (IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Manage and resolve Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs).
- Perform experiments, including Design of Experiments (DOE), to characterize and enhance processes.
- Collaborate regularly with assemblers, production supervisors, engineers, and management.
- Coordinate with suppliers and external partners to implement new processes.
- Work closely with R&D and Manufacturing teams to interpret design intent and refine processes.
- Foster clear and effective communication across all team members.
- Escalate business-related issues or opportunities to appropriate management levels.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines and provide necessary resources.
- Maintain adherence to all applicable federal, state, local, and company regulations and policies.
- Ensure compliance with quality procedures and regulatory requirements (FDA, GMP/MDD, ISO).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills:
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project).
- Ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Understanding of FDA, GMP/MDD, and ISO regulations preferred.
Experience:
- 5-7 years related work experience, preferably in a medical device manufacturing environment preferred
- Excellent hands-on communication and interpersonal skills
- Experienced in MS Word, Excel, and Project
- Experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design of Experiments (DOE) and product/process. Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Experience with CAD Software (Solid Works & AutoCAD) preferred
- Strong Lean Manufacturing background preferred.
- Experience in a Controlled Room environment preferred i.e cleanroom (CER)
- Must be able to multi-task and operate in a fast-paced environment with minimal training and supervision.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees and management, both in the Manufacturing group and cross-functionally
- Excellent computer skills - including advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Understanding of regulations related to FDA, GMP/MDD, and ISO preferred.
