Job Description

The Marine Electrician will be responsible for supporting kSARIA's Field Installation Services organization on board US Navy ships. The position will be responsible for the installation, termination and testing of fiber optic and copper cable assemblies necessary to support a variety of ship's services, including power, communication, telephone, and alarm systems. Good communications skills (written and verbal), the ability to work off customer drawings, and a keen attention to detail are a must for this position. Previous experience and certification with multi-pin copper connectors is required. Fiber optic installation, termination and testing is preferred but not required, we will train and certify in house. The individual will report to the Field Service Operations Manager and/or Project Lead and must be willing to work overtime, including weekends and travel for extended periods of time when necessary. Install, tag and band fiber optic and copper cables on various classes of surface and submarine Naval Vessels.

  • Performing all duties required to layout, fabricate, and install electrical wiring, coaxial cable, waveguides or fiber optic cable onboard Navy vessels.

  • Troubleshooting and testing of fiber and copper cables and circuits.
  • \n
  • Possess skills and abilities to perform the requirements of a shipboard or airframe electrician's trade with little supervision or guidance.
  • \n
  • Knowing how to read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical manuals, design notices, etc.
  • \n
  • Knowing and understanding the use of all tools of their trade such as multi-meters, pin crimper's, soldering and expected to accomplish the more complex tasks associated with electrical installation of cable, military circular connectors, panel box and power terminations, etc.

  • Familiar with basic computer skills

  • Familiar with MS-Office programs including Word and Excel.

Requirements

  • Must be a Marine Electrician with a minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience working in ship repair onboard US Navy ships (technical education may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement)
  • \n
  • Must have experience and multi-pin copper connector certification of cables per Navy Standard Item 009-73 (MIL-STD-2003-5)
  • \n
  • Must be familiar with NAVY Standard Items
  • \n
  • Ability to read, understand and follow customer work item requirements, drawings, and wiring diagrams.
  • \n
  • Individual must have a keen attention to detail and be quality metric driven
  • \n
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (current active Secret clearance is a plus).

Education

High School Diploma

  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)
  • \n
  • Successful completion of Navy "A" School ("C" School is a plus) or successful completion of a Shipyard or commercial Electrical apprenticeship program (recognized shipyard apprentice graduates are a plus).
