Role: Measurement/Mechanical Design Engineer
Ideal Start Date: ASAP
Location: Houston, TX (Downtown Area)
Length of Contract: 6 months + possible extension
The client is one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in North America. They operate approximately 79,000 miles of pipelines and 139 terminals. The pipelines transport natural gas, gasoline, crude oil, carbon dioxide (CO2) and more. The Natural Gas Intrastate group is seeking a Mechanical/Measurement Design Engineer with preferred nat gas measurement experience.
The ideal candidate has specialized experience in natural gas measurement systems to support the rapid expansion of our pipeline infrastructure. This role focuses on equipment sizing and meter station design for thousands of new facilities, including those tied to a major new pipeline project. They will bring hands-on experience in gas meter selection, control valve sizing, and meter station layout, and will collaborate with third-party vendors for detailed design execution.
The individual must possess skills used in the development of measurement projects including preliminary project scope and equipment sizing and selection. Responsibilities include meter sizing, sizing pipe, selecting/sizing control valves, selecting over-pressure protection (OPP) devices, gas sampling, odorant design, fuel gas skids for compressor stations, relief valve sizing, heater sizing, familiar with pressure drop calculations, familiar with weld/heat maps and sizing/selecting filtration equipment
