Mechanical Engineer - Level 4

Never have the opportunities for a technical career been so limitless. The selected candidate will support Vehicle Systems Electronics Electronic Hardware Design as a Mechanical Engineer. This person will be collaborating with other professionals to support development of test equipment used in the development, production and sustainment of safety critical flightworthy electronic hardware.

The Electronic Hardware Design (EHD) team develops flightworthy safety critical electronic hardware, embedded software, FPGAs, and test equipment for LM Aero aircraft programs and related needs. We are a co-located team of electrical, mechanical, software, test, and project management engineers under one manager. These EHD disciplines develop requirements, produce detailed designs, qualify, document, develop test equipment for, and establish production build to print suppliers for the products it develops.
Responsible for the development and verification of flightworthy safety critical electronic chassis, harnesses, circuit cards, and related test equipment. Works with electrical engineers to capture schematic, PCB layout and route electronic circuit card assemblies. Creates and maintains the engineering drawings for flightworthy products and test equipment. Works closely with embedded electrical/electronics engineers, test engineers, specialty engineering, integrity engineering and others designing hardware, seeing it through qualification, and maintaining the engineering package. Improves team processes and toolsets.
Helps LM Aero develop fully qualified flightworthy electronics at a greatly reduced cost and schedule enabling company to meet increasing customer demands to keep up with adversaries.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related degree, with a minimum of eight years of professional experience (or equivalent experience)
Experience with Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) design and evaluation
Experience with mechanical CAD modeling and drafting
Ability to obtain Secret Clearance

Desired skills

Aerospace Electronic Product Development Experience
Experience in Cadence schematic capture, PCB layout Cadence Allegro
Experience maintaining electronic hardware library (Cadence)
Experience designing mechanical aspects of aerospace electronic components (CATIA Preferred)
Working knowledge and experience applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
Experience designing and documenting lab test equipment
Experience estimating
Familiarity with LM Aero processes, procedures, and tools
Functions well in a creative, high-tempo, collaborative, cross-functional, dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $104,500 - $184,115. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement
