Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Established (100+ Years) Industry Leader Seeking Mechanical Maintenance Technician for Steel Mill in Cayce, SC

An established (100+ years) global metals manufacturer is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support its steel mill operations in Cayce, SC. This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical systems and equipment essential to steel production. The position follows a rotating shift schedule and offers highly competitive starting pay.

Starting wage: $38.00-$39.00 per hour, based on experience

Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing setting
Proficient in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining conveyors, gearboxes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Experience with pumps, bearings, couplings, and rotating equipment
Ability to read and interpret mechanical schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals
Welding and fabrication experience preferred
Knowledge of industrial safety practices and procedures, including lockout/tagout
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred

Responsibilities:
Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on production equipment and plant systems
Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime
Support shift operations by responding quickly to mechanical failures
Conduct preventive maintenance to extend equipment lifespan and reduce outages
Assist with installation, alignment, and setup of new machinery and components
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and parts usage
Follow all plant safety protocols, including PPE usage and equipment isolation procedures
