Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Lab Generalist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in laboratory techniques and clinical procedures, demonstrating proficiency in various laboratory tasks, N.Y.S. Clinical Laboratory Technologist license, and experience with blood banking processes and phlebotomy techniques. This role is essential for supporting our research and clinical operations, ensuring accurate data management and analysis while adhering to strict quality control standards. Shift - 11pm-7:30 am or 3pm-11:30pm.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform qualitative analysis on all specimens received in the Laboratory for the station assigned; including Hematology, Blood Bank and Chemistry.
  • Observe the quality of control policies and procedures in order to ensure reliable patient results.
  • Document acceptance of the control results in the LIS; as well as any problems with the controls and the resolutions to the problem.
  • Recognize and verify critical or life-threatening patient test results.
  • Perform the required maintenance on the instruments at the prescribed times and documents this fact in the appropriate logbook or the LIS.
  • Perform RNA extraction, DNA isolation, and specimen collection/processing with precision.
  • Manage laboratory information systems to ensure accurate data entry and retrieval.
  • Analyze data generated from experiments and clinical trials to support research objectives.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety regulations and aseptic techniques.
  • Assist in blood sampling, venipuncture, and collection of vital signs as required.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth operations within the laboratory environment.
  • Document laboratory procedures meticulously while adhering to medical terminology standards.

Requirements

  • N.Y.S. Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required.
  • Proven experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting is essential.
  • Familiarity with laboratory management practices and quality control protocols is preferred.
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex results accurately.
  • Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology is advantageous.
  • Experience with blood banking processes and phlebotomy techniques is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of lab work.
