Job Responsibilities:

Analyze workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow to design efficient equipment layouts and workspaces that maximize productivity and quality.

Develop proposals to improve process efficiency by analyzing existing process data.

Lead and manage process improvement projects from planning through successful implementation.

Support and drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.

Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and provide technical support to resolve production issues.

Assist with mechanical and layout designs using CAD software.

Estimate production times, staffing needs, and associated costs to support strategic planning.

Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing capabilities and requirements.

Provide engineering support for maintenance-related projects, focusing on process impact and sustainability.

Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to implement and sustain process improvements.

Work with vendors to determine product specifications, arrange equipment/material purchases, and evaluate vendor performance based on specs and quality standards.

Communicate effectively with management, engineering, and other departments to align on production schedules, capabilities, and process enhancements.

Lead Kaizen events to promote improvements in efficiency, productivity, quality, and delivery.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Materials Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
  • Background in metals processing required.
  • Strong understanding of steel metallurgy and its application in manufacturing environments.
  • Strong project management capabilities and ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Experience implementing Lean principles and process improvements.
  • Lean Six Sigma training or certification (Green Belt preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with vendors and cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of material flow, operations sequencing, and industrial efficiency.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and listening skills.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.

Work Environment:
  • This is a 24/7 manufacturing facility. Candidates must be flexible and available to support operations during night shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of classified information.
  • Flexible with shift work, overtime, or weekend availability if necessary.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs. with activities that typically require a variety of muscle movements with frequent requirement for speed and coordination. Environment with frequent exposure to dust, dirt, inclement weather. Required PPE - steel toed boots, safety eyewear, gloves and hardhats.
  • Ability to travel for business purposes. Potential to visit with customers or remote warehouses as needed.
