Mid - Principal Network Engineer
North Salt Lake City, UT
Multi-Year Contract
Contract Rate: $40.00 - $75.00per hr DOE
Clearance - U-FOUO - TS/SCI, PRP

Job Description:
Evaluates designs, develops and maintains data networking and telecommunications systems
Analyzes network characteristics (e.g., traffic, connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes, and throughput), troubleshoots problems and recommends procurement, removals, and modifications to network components
Designs and optimizes network topologies and site configurations
Plans and conducts installations, transitions, conversions and cut overs of network components and capabilities
Leads monitoring of telecom system operations and services of vendors
Coordinates requirements with users and suppliers
Provides technical leadership in the integration and test of computer-integrated networks
Oversees network control center
Provides daily supervision and direction to staff
Task lead or supervisor of intermediate, junior and/or entry level network engineers

Required Skills:
  • Systems Engineering Experience and/or Certification
    Professional Engineering License desired
    6+ yrs of progressive responsibility in providing technical leadership
    Experience with network monitoring tools such as: Cisco Prime, Juniper Junos, SolarWinds Orion, etc.
    Advanced proficiency with MS Office suite
    Extensive knowledge using industry standard network engineering principles
    Ability to analyze and report on data collected from issue resolution/ network performance metrics
    Able to keep pace with vendor software/ hardware enhancements and provide recommendations for tech refresh
    Ability to develop technical solutions to complex problems
    Highly motivated, self-starter and team player with a high energy level and willingness to aggressively take on responsibility
    Excellent customer service skills
    Demonstrated ability to approach job responsibilities with a focus on process improvement
    Able to work and effectively communicate with and present ideas, to all levels of mgmt, through written and verbal means
    Unconditional integrity and commitment to achieving goals
    Additional specialty certification related to firewall, wireless, security or mgmt (desired)
    Advanced knowledge of monitoring tools, ticketing systems, and Office suite (desired)
    ICBMs, acquisition and/or sustainment experience preferred
    Principal skill set includes ability to perform all stated/implied duties within this tier and those reasonably derived from preceding tiers

Education/Certifications:
BS Degree in an engineering discipline AND MS Degree in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering
OR
PhD Degree in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering
