Job Description:
VMware Migration Consultant
Apex Systems is hiring for VMware Migration Consultants with a large government client supporting the Defense Information Systems Agency!
A currently active, DoD-issued Top Security Clearance is required.

Location: Remote (candidates must be comfortable with up to 20% travel to various customer sites within the continental US)
Duration: Contract slated to last approximately 9-12 months, strong possibility for extension
Pay Rate: $70-75/hour (depending upon experience)
Schedule: M-F, Core Business Hours, 8-hour shifts
Position Overview:
The candidate will need to have extensive VMware experience as well as a general IT background in Networking and Migrations.
They will also need to have and good customer-facing skills, as they will be attending meetings with the customer virtually and on-site.
The candidate will be provided with a laptop and Common Access Card for remote access
Day-to-Day:
Plan and coordinate virtual machine (VM) migrations
Execute and monitor migrations
Collaborate with stakeholders
Maintain and optimize VMware environments
Support networking and automation tasks
Document processes and outcomes
Ensure compliance and security
Requirements:
Active Top Secret
5+ years VMware experience - dependency mapping and preparations for VM migrations
Networking understanding
Automation experience
Zerto Configuration and Migration experience preferred, but not required
HPE Morpheus Enterprise Software experience preferred, but not required

- Analyze current VMware environments
- Map dependencies between systems and applications
- Develop migration schedules and strategies
Execute and monitor migrations
- Use tools like Zerto (if applicable) or other automation platforms
- Troubleshoot issues during and after migration
- Validate successful data and service transfers
Collaborate with stakeholders
- Attend virtual and on-site meetings with DISA and other government personnel
- Provide technical updates and gather requirements
- Offer guidance on best practices for infrastructure transitions
Maintain and optimize VMware environments
- Perform routine health checks
- Tune performance and ensure system stability
- Apply patches and updates as needed
Support networking and automation tasks
- Assist with network configuration related to migration
- Develop or maintain automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell) to streamline processes
Document processes and outcomes
- Record migration steps, configurations, and lessons learned
- Update system diagrams and technical documentation
Ensure compliance and security
- Operate within DoD security protocols
- Use Common Access Card (CAC) for secure access
- Follow data handling and clearance procedures
Requirements:
