Role Overview:
Seeking an experienced Data Modernization Director to provide strategic oversight and leadership for public health data initiatives under a CDC Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG). You will lead multiple projects including website modernization, licensing database implementation, immunization system interoperability, and electronic lab results enhancement. This is a 100% onsite role with the opportunity to build and guide a dedicated support team.
Seeking an experienced Data Modernization Director to provide strategic oversight and leadership for public health data initiatives under a CDC Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG). You will lead multiple projects including website modernization, licensing database implementation, immunization system interoperability, and electronic lab results enhancement. This is a 100% onsite role with the opportunity to build and guide a dedicated support team.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide general oversight and strategic direction for Data Modernization projects under Strategy A3 of the CDC PHIG grant.
Assist in creating and implementing project timelines while supporting project leaders throughout execution.
Maintain consistent communication with agency staff, ensuring focus on goals and adherence to deadlines.
Develop and lead a team of support staff to manage data modernization initiatives.
Oversee projects including:
Modernization of agency website
Implementation of new licensing/certification databases
Improved interoperability for immunization information systems
Electronic Test Orders and Results (ETOR) enhancements for the public health laboratory

Required Skills & Experience:
Proven experience overseeing multi-faceted data management/modernization projects (planning, organizing, budgeting, etc.).
Strong ability to communicate effectively with teams involved in data collection, management, and development.
Experience working under data/IT security standards for protected health information (PHI).
Working knowledge of data management, visualization, and analysis tools.
Experience with vendor management for modern data software, systems, and applications.
Background in interoperability and data modernization.
IT project management experience.
Familiarity with technical environments (servers, databases, HL7, SQL, EHR, etc.).
Understanding of government, security, regulatory, and privacy requirements.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
