Job Title: Network Engineer- W2 Only

Location: Columbia, SC- Hybrid
Duration: 1 Year (with possible extension)

Job Summary

IRG Clients is seeking a skilled Network Engineer/Technician Consultant to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of LAN and wireless infrastructure across multiple locations. This role involves hands-on technical work, documentation, and collaboration with network and facilities teams to enhance system visibility and operational efficiency. The position reports directly to the Senior Network Architect.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and configure LAN and wireless infrastructure components such as switches, cabling, and access points.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues; implement root cause prevention measures.
  • Monitor and optimize network performance; maintain detailed documentation and SOPs.
  • Assist in network design, hardware configuration, and infrastructure planning.
  • Maintain and update network equipment inventory and participate in lifecycle management.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging networking technologies for integration.
  • Facilities & Dashboard Support:
  • Collaborate with internal teams to maintain a centralized inventory of office facilities, including property, space, and network bandwidth details.
  • Update and annotate office floor plans (PDF/CAD) with workstation and equipment placements.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of a dashboard displaying facility and network data for reporting and visualization.
  • Conduct physical audits of network closets, ensuring organization and labeling meet standards.
  • Maintain and update network diagrams and cable layouts for all office sites.
  • Perform cellular signal strength assessments to aid in SD-WAN carrier selection.
  • Network audit reports with documentation and photos.
  • Updated floorplans and network diagrams for all office locations.
  • Monthly progress and activity summaries.
  • Standardized SOPs and network documentation.
  • Centralized facilities dashboard with accurate data.

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years' experience of knowledge of data network services and data communications (Installing and implementing LAN and wireless infrastructure including switches, cabling, APs, and other components.)
  • 5+ years' experience of complex knowledge of data network design and equipment configurations.
  • 5+ years' experience of complex knowledge of office automation systems, fiber optics, and microcomputer hardware/software

Preferred Skills:

  • 5+ years' experience of understanding of advanced Network configuration & protocol.
  • 5+ years' experience relating to cable management, patch panels, troubleshooting telecom/network closets
  • 5+ years' experience with wireless infrastructure, cloud-networking (SD-WAN, Azure) and VoIP technologies.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

Equivalent professional experience may substitute for formal education on a year-for-year basis.
