Responsibilities:

Blizzard Backbone is key infrastructure to provide connectivity-as-a-service among our datacenters, public cloud, corporate infrastructure, and our players. As a Backbone Network Engineer, you will be responsible for handling Blizzard global backbone paired with MPLS VPN technology and our DDoS mitigation systems as well as all edge systems services including our global CDN. You should be able to craft/configure/troubleshoot Network services, including, but not limited to, deploy/troubleshoot configuration for various network devices, write scripts to automate work and handle troubleshooting escalation from internal/external customers.

Requirements:

  • Able to configure/manage various tools and services of network engineering to quickly and effectively troubleshoot complex network incidents.
  • Contribute to the overall capacity planning, footprint expansion and architecture of the Backbone network
  • Participate in various Network projects from design to implementation, provide clear documentation, SOPs and usage guidance for junior engineers and administrators.
  • Strong knowledge in routing and switching protocol BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, MPLS, LDP, RSVP, multicast
  • Experienced in deploying, upgrading and troubleshooting multivendor network equipment/solutions. For ex Cisco, Juniper, DWDM (Infinera, SmartOptics)
  • Contribute to training staff to level up by providing / explaining different network design and implementation.
  • Experience with IX management & peering relationships.
  • Familiarity with common programming languages like Python, Go, and Ruby.
  • Familiarity with configuring and managing configuration using tools like Puppet / Ansible / Salt or other configuration management / automation frameworks.
  • Participate in on-call rotations.
  • Duties subject to change

Minimum Requirements:

  • Expert level industry certification like CCIE / JNCIE-DC / ENT / SP or higher.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to automate or tackle network tasks by creating the vital tools (Scripts, APIs, ChatOps).
  • Linux networking stack knowledge.
  • Experience with Edge computing (Linux routing, Anycast, RoH, CDN).

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $77,500.00 - $143,376.00 Hourly. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role's range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
