Information Security Engineer (Firewall Specialist)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Information Security Engineer to join our team in a contingent capacity. In this role, you will contribute to the design, implementation, and optimization of network security infrastructure, with a focus on firewall technologies. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure, scalable, and compliant network solutions.
Responsibilities
- Firewall Configuration & Management: Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise firewalls including Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Check Point to protect network integrity.
- Policy Design & Enforcement: Develop and implement firewall rules, access control policies, and NAT configurations aligned with security standards and business needs.
- Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Conduct regular audits, rule base reviews, and policy cleanups to improve firewall efficiency and reduce redundancies.
- Network Architecture Collaboration: Partner with network architects to design secure, scalable, and highly available network environments.
- Automation & Reporting: Build scripts and tools to automate policy updates and generate actionable security reports.
- 4+ years of experience in Information Security Engineering or equivalent experience through a combination of work, consulting, military service, or education.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise firewall platforms (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point).
- Strong understanding of network protocols, security policies, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in scripting for automation and reporting (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
