Job Title: Network Reliability Engineer
Job Location: Reston, VA | Full-Time | Onsite
About the Role:
- We are seeking a highly skilled Network Reliability Engineer (NRE) to join our growing team in Reston, VA. The NRE team is responsible for applying an engineering approach to measure, automate, and improve network reliability to align with our organization's service-level objectives. You'll play a critical role in maintaining a highly reliable and scalable network by quickly responding to disruptions, identifying root causes, and implementing long-term solutions.
What You'll Do:
- Develop, document, and execute procedures to safely implement network changes.
- Automate solutions for detecting and resolving network failure conditions.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to resolve bugs and qualify new firmware/operating systems.
- Perform firmware upgrades, configuration refreshes, and system optimizations.
- Design and implement monitoring and telemetry solutions for network performance.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to maintain service-level objectives.
What We're Looking For:
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols and services including MPLS, BGP/OSPF/IS-IS, TCP/IP, IPv4, IPv6, DNS, DHCP, VxLAN, EVPN.
- Hands-on experience with network operations in large ISP or cloud provider environments.
- Expertise with scripting and automation (Python preferred, but open to other languages).
- Experience with network monitoring and telemetry tools.
- Familiarity with firmware upgrades, configuration management, and large-scale troubleshooting.
- Prior experience in a network operations role is highly desirable.
