Job Title: Network Security Proxy Engineer

Location: Jersey City, NJ / Plano, TX (5 Days Onsite)
Employment Type: W2 Only
Duration: Long-Term Contract

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Network Security Proxy Engineer to support a large-scale migration from Bluecoat Proxy to a SASE / SWG platform. The role requires strong expertise in proxy technologies, network security, and automation within enterprise or data center environments.

The engineer will collaborate across teams to build, deploy, and document secure web gateway solutions while supporting operations, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with change management processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, deploy, and document proxy-based Edge Secure Web Gateway (SWG) solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end project outcomes.
  • Support daily operations, including triage and troubleshooting of proxy/security issues.
  • Perform upgrades, certificate renewals, listing, and URL access troubleshooting.
  • Ensure adherence to organizational change management processes and maintain system documentation.
  • Automate processes for proxy environment efficiency and consistency.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance activities (not 24x7 role).
  • Quickly adapt to evolving technologies with a strong learning mindset.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in network/security/cybersecurity engineering.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Broadcom products (Proxy SG, SWG, ISG, CAS, SSL Visibility, Symantec Management Center).
  • Strong expertise in Web Proxy (Bluecoat) setup, management, and support.
  • Experience with network migrations in enterprise/data center environments.
  • Proficiency in network automation and scripting for proxy environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of network infrastructure, application layer protocols (HTTP/HTTPS), and vulnerability mitigation.
  • Familiarity with load balancing concepts.
  • Proficient with SIEM tools for investigative purposes.
  • Strong knowledge of network security concepts.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with SASE and SWG platforms (Zscaler, Netskope, Umbrella).
  • Exposure to Palo Alto, Broadcom, Zscaler technologies.
  • On-premise and cloud integration experience.
  • Agile methodology experience (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field preferred.
