Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced OCI Exadata Architect/Admin to design, implement, manage, and optimize Oracle Exadata workloads deployed on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience with Exadata Cloud Service, Autonomous Databases, RAC/ASM administration, migration planning, performance tuning, patching cycles, and high-availability environments.

This role includes architecture ownership, operational administration, performance optimization, and automation of Exadata platform services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, deploy, and administer Exadata Cloud Service (ExaCS) / Exadata Cloud@Customer environments.
  • Design high availability, backup, and disaster recovery strategies using:
    Data Guard
    RMAN
    GoldenGate (where applicable)
  • Manage Exadata infrastructure including:
    • CPU scaling, storage configuration, cell server tuning, patching cycle management
    • RAC, ASM, Grid Infrastructure, resource management, and Exadata performance tuning
  • Lead migration efforts for on-prem Oracle DB workloads to OCI Exadata using proven methodologies.
  • Automate provisioning and operational tasks using Terraform, OCI Resource Manager, and scripting (Python/Shell).
  • Collaborate with architecture, security, network, and application teams to align designs with enterprise standards.
  • Administer monitoring, alerting, and capacity management using OCI Observability & Management (O&M), OEM, or third-party tools.
  • Perform root cause analysis for performance or reliability issues and recommend remediation plans.
  • Maintain documentation, operational procedures, runbooks, and knowledge transfer material.

Required Skills & Experience

14+ years of database engineering and cloud infrastructure experience
5+ years hands-on with OCI and Exadata Cloud Services
Strong administration experience with:

  • Exadata Cloud Service (ExaCS)
  • Autonomous DB (ATP/ADW)
  • RAC, ASM, Grid Infrastructure
  • Backup, restore, and HA/DR frameworks
    Strong SQL tuning, memory optimization, and database performance engineering.

Experience with:

  • Terraform / IaC deployment automation
  • Patch management lifecycle
  • Identity governance & security controls for OCI platforms

Preferred Skills & Certifications

  • OCI Architect Professional or OCI Database Migration Specialist
  • Oracle OCP/OCE/Exadata Certifications
  • GoldenGate and Data Migration Framework exposure
  • Linux system administration experience is a plus

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to lead modernization and migration initiatives
  • Comfortable working in global support and delivery environments
