General Summary:
Qualcomm's Open Source Engineering team is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to architect, drive, and elevate both internal and external systems supporting Qualcomm's open source initiatives. In this leadership role, you will guide multidisciplinary teams and collaborate across functions to set the technical vision and roadmap for open source development and release. You will be responsible for defining best practices and strategies that shape how engineers at Qualcomm develop, release, and test open source software, ensuring reliability, scalability, and innovation across platforms.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
3+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

- Ability to lead multi-organization initiatives. Ensuring alignment across departments and divisions towards a common goal. Collaborating effectively to design, plan and implement these cross-functional initiatives.
- Proficiency with Git and modern version control systems, including designing and enforcing branching strategies and repository structures for large-scale, distributed engineering organizations.
- Deep expertise in architecting, managing, and integrating software forge platforms such as GitLab and GitHub, including overseeing organization-level governance, security, and workflow automation.
- Extensive experience architecting, deploying, and optimizing cloud-based infrastructure on platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Leadership in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines and release management systems, driving automation and best practices across multiple projects and teams.
- Experience in establishing and scaling open source and InnerSource engineering practices, including mentoring teams in open source forking workflows, Pull/Merge Request processes, cross-functional collaboration, code review standards, issue management, branching strategies, and compliance with community guidelines and licensing requirements.
- Expert-level capability in developing and maintaining automation tools using Python, Bash, or equivalent languages, with a focus on improving operational efficiency and reliability.
- Extensive experience designing, integrating, and troubleshooting APIs (REST, JSON, GraphQL, OpenAPI), including leading efforts in API lifecycle management and documentation.
- Expertise in containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes, enabling scalable, resilient deployment architectures.
- Mastery of SQL, relational database systems (Postgres, MySQL), and database architecture, including performance tuning, security, and disaster recovery planning.
- Comprehensive background in UNIX/Linux development environments, including system-level troubleshooting and environment optimization.
- Familiar with agile, scrum, or kanban methodologies, facilitating sprint cycles, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives to drive continuous delivery and foster effective communication across engineering and stakeholder teams.
- Experience with ticketing and issue tracking systems such as Jira, Bugzilla, including workflow customization and reporting for large teams.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead incident response, perform root cause analysis, and drive long-term solutions.

Preferred Skills
- Experience managing GitHub organizations and repositories, including advanced configuration, access control, and policy enforcement.
- Expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining complex GitHub Actions and automated workflows for large-scale, multi-team environments.
- Knowledge embedded software testing systems such as LAVA, and their integration into automated CI workflows.
- Software development experience across backend APIs, frontend web applications, microservices, and serverless architectures, with a focus on scalability and maintainability.
- In-depth knowledge of distributed search and analytics platforms such as Elasticsearch, including cluster design, performance optimization, and data lifecycle management.
- Proven ability to architect and design highly available, redundant, and resilient systems for mission-critical applications.
