Job Summary:
The Automation and Performance Testing Expert is responsible for designing, developing, and executing comprehensive automation and performance test strategies to ensure the quality, scalability, and reliability of software applications. This role involves leading the implementation of test automation frameworks, conducting in-depth performance analysis, and collaborating with development and operations teams to optimize system performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Test Strategy & Planning:
Define and implement end-to-end automation and performance testing strategies for various applications (e.g., web, mobile, API, cloud).
Develop detailed test plans, including scope, objectives, resources, and timelines for both automation and performance testing.
Gather and analyze non-functional requirements (NFRs) related to performance, scalability, and reliability.
Automation Development & Maintenance:
Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable test automation frameworks and scripts using industry-standard tools (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium).
Implement and integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing.
Ensure test scripts are maintainable, reusable, and effectively cover critical functionalities.
Performance Testing & Analysis:
Design and execute various performance tests, including load, stress, endurance, and scalability testing using tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, k6.
Monitor and analyze system metrics (CPU, memory, disk I/O, network, response times) during performance tests using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace.
Identify performance bottlenecks, conduct root cause analysis, and provide actionable recommendations for performance improvements.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with development, DevOps, and product teams to align testing efforts with development cycles and business goals.
Communicate test results, performance insights, and identified issues clearly to stakeholders.
Mentor and guide junior team members on automation and performance testing best practices.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in test automation and performance engineering.
Drive initiatives to improve testing processes, tools, and methodologies.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript).
Expertise in automation testing tools (e.g., Tosca, Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium).
Strong knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner, k6).
Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace).
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integration of testing into the development lifecycle.
