Planning Engineer
Location: 100% Remote
Length: 12 + months contract
Payrate range: $38-$45/hr.
Schedule: Monday- Friday
The Role
Lead and coordinate projects to procure and install Ethernet switch and IP routing telecommunications hardware, software, and connectivity to support data network growth and expansion initiatives.

Planning Engineer

The Role
Lead and coordinate projects to procure and install Ethernet switch and IP routing telecommunications hardware, software, and connectivity to support data network growth and expansion initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply professional networking expertise in a hybrid telecommunications and IT service provider environment.
- Develop detailed equipment installation work packages; procure hardware, track shipments, and order circuits or other connectivity to support successful implementation by Field Services teams.
- Manage work intake in alignment with service-level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs); respond promptly to communications and escalations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally on new product and technology deployments.
- Independently plan and execute assignments in accordance with established policies and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree or equivalent education and experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in telecommunications, engineering, network planning, or a related field.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to quickly learn new systems and processes.
- Solid technical knowledge of transport systems and IP routing technologies, preferably in enterprise or service provider environments.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; capable of managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization (executives, sales, product, engineering, etc.).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other PC-based applications.
- Bonus: Experience with scripting, data analytics, or database administration.
- Adapt to evolving processes and requirements.
- Deliver major projects on time using technical expertise.
- Identify process gaps and recommend improvements.
- Complete all required training.
- Understand interdependencies between platforms and departments.
- Produce clear, concise project documentation including work statements, hardware and cabling requirements, diagrams, and materials lists.
