Plant Accountant
Plant Accountant
Position Overview
The Plant Accountant is responsible for overseeing financial operations within the manufacturing plant, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards. This role aims to enhance the financial performance of the plant through effective budgeting, cost analysis, and performance monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial reports for the plant, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
- Develop and manage the annual budget process, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
- Conduct cost analysis to identify areas for efficiency improvements and cost savings.
- Perform variance analysis to explain differences between budgeted and actual financial performance.
- Oversee auditing processes to ensure compliance with internal controls and financial regulations.
- Utilize ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle Netsuite for financial reporting and data management.
- Manage reconciliation of accounts, including general ledger accounts related to plant operations.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies in all accounting practices.
- Collaborate with plant operations to provide financial insights that support decision-making.
- Monitor inventory management processes to ensure accurate financial reporting related to inventory values.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a food and beverage manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of an ERP system (Oracle NetSuite highly desirable or comparable experience)
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting and budgeting processes.
- Experience with cost analysis and variance analysis methodologies.
- Familiarity with auditing processes and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in SAP, ERP Systems, and Oracle Netsuite.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with plant staff.
- Understanding of inventory management and its impact on financial reporting.
- Experience in the Dairy or Food and Beverage manufacturing industries is a plus.
