Platform Engineer

The ideal candidate will play a key role in both architectural strategy and hands-on implementation, helping to scale the platform engineering function as the company grows. You'll actively contribute to the codebase, review pull requests, and make pivotal technical decisions while hiring, mentoring, and developing a world-class platform engineering team.

The company is located in Atlanta, potential hybrid in a few months.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the platform engineering strategy, roadmap, and vision across AWS and Azure multi-cloud environments.
  • Team Building & Hands-On Contribution: Begin as a direct technical contributor while hiring, mentoring, and scaling a high-performing platform engineering team as the organization grows.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Architecture: Design and lead implementation of scalable, secure, and cost-efficient infrastructure that supports AI workloads and multi-tenant SaaS applications.
  • Developer Enablement: Build and maintain internal developer platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and self-service systems that increase delivery speed and reliability.
  • Security & Compliance: Own SOC 2 Type II controls, security frameworks, and compliance automation, ensuring platform resilience and audit readiness.
  • FinOps & Cost Optimization: Establish and lead cloud cost optimization initiatives and FinOps best practices to maximize infrastructure ROI.
  • Reliability & Observability: Implement SRE practices, monitoring, and alerting frameworks to maintain uptime, performance, and operational transparency.
  • AI/ML Infrastructure: Architect and manage infrastructure for LLM deployment, vector databases, and AI agent orchestration at scale.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with Engineering, Security, and Product teams to ensure platform capabilities align with business goals and product strategy.
  • Innovation & Technology Evolution: Continuously evaluate and introduce modern tools, frameworks, and practices to evolve the platform's performance and developer experience.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Experience: 8+ years in platform, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering, including 3+ years in technical leadership roles guiding and growing teams.
  • Deep, expert-level knowledge of AWS and strong proficiency in Azure cloud services.
  • Proficiency in Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi, with a history of implementing and managing large-scale IaC environments.
  • Strong experience with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins, and practical application of GitOps principles.
  • Deep understanding of SOC 2, ISO 27001, and security frameworks, including vulnerability management and compliance automation.
  • SaaS Architecture: Hands-on experience designing multi-tenant SaaS platforms with enterprise-grade scalability, performance, and security.
  • Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog, or New Relic for metrics, tracing, and reliability engineering.
