Job Title - PowerBI Developer - Jira Alignment
Location - Piscataway, NJ (Hybrid)
Duration - 12+ Months
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer with Jira Alignment expertise to design, build, and maintain enterprise-level reporting and dashboards. This role will focus on leveraging Power BI s advanced visualization and analytics capabilities while integrating and aligning data from Jira (and Jira Align) to provide actionable insights into program, portfolio, and project performance.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data modeling, DAX, and ETL processes, with hands-on experience in Jira data structures, workflows, and alignment to agile portfolio management practices.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports that provide visibility into Jira/Jira Align data.
  • Build data models, measures, and KPIs to support portfolio, program, and project-level insights.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders (Product Owners, PMO, Agile Coaches, Portfolio Managers) to capture reporting needs and translate them into scalable BI solutions.
  • Develop ETL pipelines for extracting, transforming, and loading data from Jira and related sources into Power BI.
  • Align reporting frameworks with Agile at Scale practices (e.g., SAFe, LeSS) supported through Jira Align.
  • Optimize Power BI reports for performance, scalability, and usability.
  • Implement row-level security, governance, and best practices for BI solutions.
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis and data storytelling for leadership decision-making.
  • Support data validation, quality checks, and reconciliation between Jira and BI dashboards.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 3 6 years of experience in Power BI development (visualizations, data modeling, DAX).
  • Strong knowledge of Jira and/or Jira Align data structures, APIs, and reporting capabilities.
  • Hands-on experience in integrating Jira data with BI tools (direct API, database extracts, or third-party connectors).
  • Solid understanding of Agile/Scaled Agile (SAFe) processes and related reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in SQL and ETL tools for data preparation.
  • Experience working with stakeholders to define KPIs, metrics, and dashboards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative, agile environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or Databricks for enterprise data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian ecosystem tools (Confluence, Jira Service Management, Advanced Roadmaps).
  • Exposure to enterprise portfolio management reporting.
  • Knowledge of DevOps metrics, velocity tracking, and resource allocation reporting.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate technical data into meaningful insights for non-technical stakeholders.
