Job Title: Principal Data Center and Cloud Architect

Location: HYBRID- 3-4 days onsite/2 days remote- Monday, Tuesday and Thursday

Contract to hire to FTE

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Data Center and Cloud Architect to lead the strategic design, development, and optimization of our hybrid infrastructure. This role bridges traditional data center operations with modern cloud technologies (public, private, and hybrid), ensuring seamless integration, high performance, and strong security across the enterprise IT landscape.

You will act as a thought leader and subject matter expert in both on-prem and cloud architecture, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design scalable, resilient, and secure infrastructure that supports business growth and digital transformation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Architecture Strategy
    • Lead the development of hybrid infrastructure strategies and roadmaps encompassing data center, private cloud, and public cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
    • Define reference architectures, design patterns, and governance for infrastructure services.
    • Balance innovation with operational excellence to ensure performance, cost optimization, and security.
  • Cloud & Data Center Integration
    • Architect solutions that span multiple environments, including hybrid identity, networking, workload migration, and monitoring strategies.
    • Lead cloud adoption initiatives, ensuring compatibility with existing data center systems.
    • Partner with security teams to define and implement security and compliance controls across hybrid environments.
  • Engineering Leadership
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to infrastructure and cloud engineering teams.
    • Oversee the implementation of infrastructure-as-code (IaC), automation, and CI/CD for infrastructure deployments.
    • Evaluate and select platforms, tools, and vendors to support infrastructure evolution.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Work closely with application, network, security, and DevOps teams to ensure alignment of infrastructure capabilities with business and application needs.
    • Translate business requirements into scalable and cost-effective infrastructure solutions.
    • Act as a technical advisor to executives and provide leadership in infrastructure-related decision-making.
  • Position Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Information Technology or related field.
  • Experience: Eight (8) years of information technology in principal data center and cloud architect and support experience including four (4) years of project lead or supervisory responsibility.
