We're currently seeking a Principal Engineer to join our Supplier Design Equipment team as a Project Engineer. In this role, you will collaborate with various engineering disciplines, external suppliers, and aerospace customers. Your primary focus will be on qualification testing of equipment procured from suppliers, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, and managing configuration control.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

What You Will Do
- Oversee and coordinate the administrative and operational aspects of ongoing projects, ensuring alignment with program guidelines and objectives.
- Act as the primary liaison between project management and planning, project teams, and line management; own and monitor estimates and variances throughout the program lifecycle.
- Manage the development, qualification, and compliance of mechanical and electrical components supplied by external vendors.
- Ensure that all technical requirements are clearly and accurately communicated and flowed down to suppliers.
- Monitor and assess project issues proactively, developing effective resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals.
- Participate in the coordination, preparation, and maintenance of project plans, budgets, and staffing needs, ensuring all action items are tracked and completed on time to meet quality expectations.
- Guarantee that product development and qualification testing activities are thoroughly documented, properly performed, and formally approved, providing complete verification of all requirements.
- Engage and collaborate with appropriate technical subject matter experts (SMEs) within Collins Aerospace to address areas beyond the team's core engineering expertise.
- Identify and create opportunities for the group's advancement by developing a strategic vision aligned with emerging future projects such as Urban Air Mobility, electric systems, and system integration.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience in Project Engineering or Project Management.
- Familiarity with Collins tools such as PLM/Teamcenter and SAP, along with design and qualification processes.
- Experience working within a highly matrixed organization, collaborating with team members, suppliers, and customers.
- Hands-on experience with environmental and qualification standards including DO-160 and MIL-810.
- Knowledge of CORE methodologies to support continuous improvement, risk management, and effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Proven ability and willingness to mentor junior engineers and team members, fostering growth and knowledge sharing within the team.
