Job Description
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for supporting quality assurance and continuous improvement activities plant wide. Utilize inspection equipment and procedures to determine conformance of incoming parts, work-in-process, and finished product, to quality standards. Write inspection reports and documentation as required.
Investigate recurring quality-related issues; define and implement corrective actions. Effectively work with internal & external personnel, customers and external auditors. Use process control to make data-based decisions and drives continuous improvement.
Work with Engineering and Manufacturing to improve the quality of our products and to deliver the expected quality of product to our customers. Performing inventory transactions on SAP. Physical scrapping of products and components.
Identify non-conforming material and assure material is properly handled per the defined quality system procedure. This includes accurately updating the defined tracking system. Perform jig validation.
Perform Layered Process Audits for critical processes. Provide real time coaching to production associates on quality related issues. Responsible for the tracking, preparing and submitting quality reports.
Train others in quality topics and basic measurement and part validation skills. Update quality matrices and/or tier boards. High school diploma or GED equivalent Experience in the use of different inspection gauges and measuring tools including tape measures, scales, calipers, etc.
Basic computer skills to include MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint Working knowledge in sheet metal fabrication through assembly. Position Criteria: Ability to lift 50 lbs. alone occasionally to frequently, and up to 100 lbs.
with assistance occasionally by stooping, reaching, bending. Requires PPE to include safety glasses, safety-toe shoes, ear protection, cut resistant sleeves, and any other PPE required by the position. Environmental exposure includes sharp objects, pinch points, oil.
Strong communication, training, math, analytical and reasoning skills. Ability to read and understand prints and shop drawings. Excellent attendance and punctuality, demonstrates the ability to work without close supervision.
Able to communicate with leads and supervisors in other departments and on coming shifts to ensure smooth product flow. Must be a self-starter, motivated and possess good teamwork skills. Ability to diagnose defects in parts and workmanship.
Knowledge of basic quality tools (sampling procedures, pareto diagrams, histograms and probabilities) and continuous improvement concepts (8D, brainstorming, and 5-Why) Ability to work overtime, including Saturdays, as needed by the business.
