Job Title: Rapid Response Cable Technician
Contract Type: 6-Month Contract to Hire
Interview Process: One step in-person interview process with Team Lead.
Pay Rate Hourly/Salary Range: $36.06-40.86/HR and $75,000-$85,000
Required Clearance: Top Secret/SCI, but Secret could work as well.
Parking Situation: Parking at the Pentagon site is not allowed. You will have to metro in or park at Crystal City Mall across the street where it is $10-$20 per day (not covered) and metro in from there.
Location/Hours of Operation: 100% onsite at the Pentagon Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:00pm
Team Size/Environment:
  • Four Cable Technicians
  • One RCDD techs
  • Two Rapid Response Cable Technicians


Technical Skills:
  • Three or more years as Cable Technician minimum.
  • Fusion splicing and termination experience.
  • Fiber Cat6 and copper experience.
  • Desired experience with Taclan.
  • Attention to detail is key.


Daily Responsibilities:
  • Analyze, administer, and maintain telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure.
  • The Rapid Response Technician is assigned tasks by Coordinators related to service orders and repair activities for Category 6 cabling, Voice over IP networks (VOIP), and fiber optic cabling infrastructure.
  • Responsible for dressing, terminating, and testing cables and components.
  • Work with power tools and ladders.
  • Computer literate with basic Networking Skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and communicate with supervisors.
  • Interprets service orders, circuit diagrams, and electrical schematics.
  • Tests, locates, installs, and repairs cabling infrastructure associated with trouble calls, and performs routine maintenance.
  • Verifies work order information and receipt of all necessary equipment and information.
  • Verifies service by testing installed cabling, identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.
  • Well-versed in the use of network cabling test equipment including network testers, copper cable testers, fiber OTDRs, and fiber power meters.
  • Document network by labeling and routing equipment and cables.
  • Record configuration diagrams and specifications.
  • Maintain network by troubleshooting and repairing outages.
  • Test network back-up procedures; updating documentation.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
  • Participate in special projects as required.
  • Identify, track, and remove abandoned cable, and keep cable neatly tied and bundled while maintaining safety standards.
  • Dress, terminate, and test cables and components including CAT6 and fiber optic cabling.
  • Ability to work with power tools and ladders.
  • Ability to work well with others and communicate with supervisors.
  • Computer literate with basic Networking Skills.
  • Expected to deal with tickets within 24 hours.
  • Provide network support (refresh, installation, monitoring, updates, etc.) to all of DISAs network within the Pentagon and surrounding locations.
  • Provide refresh to all of DISAs network within the Pentagon and surrounding locations.
  • Provide installation to all of DISAs network within the Pentagon and surrounding locations.
  • Provide monitoring to all of DISAs network within the Pentagon and surrounding locations.
