Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is remote. The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton's Infrastructure Managed Service (IMS) Program, for the Unites States Coast Guard (USCG). This initiative is modernizing and consolidating the engineering and operational environment under a managed service to better support the services provided to the USCG. As part of the IMS program, the System Engineer will be responsible for providing engineering guidance across the Technical Services team, including requirements definition, design, implementation, and testing.

Designs, develops, evaluates, and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle.
Generates project requirements based on customer description, system planning and design and ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards.
Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower level detailed implementation requirements.
Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development.
Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.
Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with 8 years' experience or Master's degree with 6 years' experience or HS Diploma/equivalent and 12 years experience
Demonstrated experience in a large-scale datacenter environment
Experience with AWS and Azure
Experience with IaaS and PaaS
Experience with Container services
Proficiency in scripting, including power shell automation and python
8+ years' experience with Windows server
Experience with vRA and vRO required
Experience in automation, virtualization, monitoring
Windows Image build experience required
STIG and Security Remediation experience required
In-depth understanding of various operating systems, network/system infrastructure, networking protocols/services and enterprise architectural design
Ability to work with multifunctional teams
Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills with the ability to de-construct problems
Minimum of 1 of the below certification's is required or must be able to obtain upon hire:
CompTia Security+
CISSP
CISM
CEH
Preferred Qualifications:

A solid understanding of industry best practices; specific demonstrated experience mapping business processes and comparing those processes to industry and DOD best practices
Must have excellent competency with large environments running over 1000 servers and varied tools
Excellent understanding of networks, systems, and application security with knowledge of various vulnerability scanning solutions, scripting and automation
Familiar with AWS and Azure cloud environments, architecture, and services
Excellent written and verbal communication; must be able to communicate technical solutions to senior management Target Salary Range
