Who we are
About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world's largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About the team

The Risk User Experience and Insights team enables good users to thrive on Stripe by creating an intuitive and tailored risk experience that effectively mitigates compliance, financial and reputational risk. The team conducts qualitative and quantitative research, develops product strategies that alleviate risk pain points, and drives execution with partners across Engineering, Product, Design and Operations. Ultimately, the team ensures that a good user is never surprised by Stripe's risk actions and has straightforward recourse with minimal impact to their business.
What you'll do

We are looking for an experienced risk management professional to join the team and help provide a stellar risk experience for Stripe users. You will leverage data analytics, user research, and qualitative analyses to identify opportunities, craft innovative product solutions, and execute on those solutions in partnership with engineering, design and operations teams without compromising on risk mitigation.
Responsibilities
  • Define Stripe's risk user experience strategy and convert it into a product roadmap
  • Identify and quantify user pain points through rigorous data analysis
  • Launch both qualitative and quantitative experiments and research studies to understand user expectations and friction areas
  • Create innovative product-driven solutions to effectively improve the risk user experience
  • Develop relationships with key partners across product, engineering, data science and business teams
  • Carefully balance risk mitigation, user experience and growth considerations in the product development process
Who you are

We are looking for someone who can define and lead large-scale projects targeted at improving the end-to-end risk user experience. These projects will be focused on improving Stripe's products so that risk management is seamless for good users. The person will work independently in the highly cross-functional Risk org with engineering, data science, operations, design, and research.

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Minimum requirements
  • 4+ years professional experience in a related field, such as Risk, Compliance, or Trust & Safety, within a fast-paced, high-growth company
  • Professional experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL) and proficiency in quantitative analysis geared towards drawing actionable insights from complex datasets
  • Demonstrated track record of deriving insights from complex problem spaces and leveraging data to drive decisions, set goals, and evaluate impact.
  • Experience communicating to all levels of management, including strong writing skills and experience writing strategy documents, one-page project updates, and/or whitepapers
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience influencing multi-disciplinary product teams including engineers, designers, product managers and data scientists
  • Demonstrated program management skills and a track record for building and scaling programs from the ground up
  • Ability to operate independently and navigate ambiguity
  • Strong desire to work in a fast-paced and innovative environment
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience working in the payments or tech industries
  • Experience with Python or other programming languages
  • PMP certification and/or Six Sigma certification

Hybrid work at Stripe

This role is available either in an office or a remote location (typically, 35+ miles or 56+ km from a Stripe office).

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

A remote location, in most cases, is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently or plan to live.
