Job Description
Position Summary:
The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the supply of electrical cables, components, and related materials. This role evaluates suppliers, negotiates pricing and contracts, and ensures purchased items meet quality, cost, and delivery standards. The Buyer oversees the entire procurement lifecycle from requisition to receipt and resolves any fulfillment discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities: Plan, procure, and manage material purchases to support production schedules, customer orders, and forecasted demand.
- Create and update purchase orders in alignment with SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) requirements; escalate risks to internal teams and suppliers as needed.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships especially in the electrical components space to ensure favorable pricing, terms, and delivery performance.
- Negotiate contracts and delivery terms to reduce costs, secure supply, and mitigate market volatility.
- Monitor and maintain material requirements plans (MRP) for assigned commodities; ensure data accuracy and system integrity.
- Analyze market trends and vendor pricing to recommend and implement updates to standard costs.
- Collaborate with Sales and Purchasing to clarify customer requirements and provide timely quotes for new builds and ongoing business.
- Coordinate with Sales and Operations to manage urgent or delayed orders to meet customer expectations.
- Actively participate in production planning meetings and ensure purchasing activities align with customer delivery goals.
- Approve invoice payments, process returns for defective items, and resolve delivery discrepancies with vendors.
- Support cross-functional initiatives by attending relevant internal meetings.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 3 years of purchasing or procurement experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience purchasing electrical components is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with SAP procurement modules is required.
- Strong attention to detail, with solid analytical and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate across departments and with external suppliers.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team to meet production and supply chain goals.
Travel Requirement:
Up to 25% domestic travel may be required.
