Job Description:
Job Posting: Tier 1 SOC Analyst - InfoSec
Client: Large Bank
Location: Onsite 4 days/week (Tuesday-Friday)
Shift: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Duration: 18-month contract with potential for conversion
Overview:
Apex Systems is seeking a seasoned Tier 1 SOC Analyst to join a high-impact security operations team supporting applications for one of the nation's top banks. This is a backfill opportunity for a critical role within a collaborative SOC environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on SOC experience, a tool-agnostic mindset, and a passion for mentoring junior analysts.

Team Structure:
- 4 Tier 2 SOC Analysts
- 4 Tier 1 SOC Analysts
- Offshore team supporting third shift
- Peer team covering Monday-Thursday/Friday schedule
Key Responsibilities:
- Triage and respond to security alerts from SIEM Cloud Mission Control
- Perform early-stage remediation and escalate incidents to Tier 2 as needed
- Work tickets from the queue using tools such as XSOAR and Splunk (training provided for other tools)
- Collaborate with onshore and offshore teams to ensure seamless coverage
- Mentor and upskill junior Tier 1 analysts
- Contribute to a proactive and resilient SOC posture
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on SOC experience
- Experience with any EDR platform
- Familiarity with SIEM/SOAR tools; Splunk and SPL scripting preferred
- Strong communication skills for cross-team collaboration
- Ability to lead and mentor junior team members
- Tool-agnostic approach with willingness to learn new platforms
Additional Notes:
- No weekend call hours
- Candidates must be comfortable working onsite 4 days per week
