Job Title: Intercompany Project Manager
Job Type: W2 Contract (12 months)
Location: Maplewood, MN
Schedule: M - F 40 hours/week
Pay Rate: $ 40 - 68 / hour
Position Overview:
The Intercompany PM is responsible for optimizing Intercompany (ICO) vehicle utilization and shipment efficiency with the goal of achieving an 80% vehicle utilization rate. The role leverages analytics, cross-functional collaboration, and structured project leadership to deliver measurable improvements in load factors, order patterns, packaging, and transportation schedules. This position reports to Global Logistics and requires strong leadership, analytical, and project management skills to drive global initiatives that reduce costs, increase efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure strategic alignment across cross-functional teams by facilitating Intercompany vehicle utilization and shipment optimization initiatives.
  • Leverage Power BI analytics to identify trends, underutilized nodes and lanes, and drive continuous improvement in Intercompany Load Factor Metrics (LFM).
  • Develop decision-support tools such as prioritization matrices, process maps, and implementation timelines to accelerate initiative rollout and support site visit planning.
  • Partner with Americas Domestic Transportation to ensure consistent operational execution of improvement plans at sites, driving measurable shipping efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate with Planning, Packaging Engineering, and Business Supply Chain teams to resolve systemic issues beyond site-level operational controls across USAC sites.
  • Build site-level roadmaps and execution plans to achieve the 80% load factor target.
  • Track and report site-level improvement activities, providing visibility into initiative progress and reinforcing accountability at Distribution Centers and Manufacturing Plants.
  • Optimize Intercompany Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs) by aligning order patterns with transportation capacity and efficiency goals.
  • Implement standardized pallet and layer configurations in collaboration with DC technical teams and Packaging, improving load stackability and minimizing shipping waste.
  • Drive optimization of shipping schedules by working with Planning and IT to align frequency, routing, and timing with load factor targets.
  • Evaluate level-load planning concepts for key international lanes.
  • Collaborate with Planning, DC, and DA&A teams to execute sustainable order quantity improvement roadmaps.
  • Define and maintain an operating rhythm for load factor improvements.
  • Continuously improve the Global Load Factor Playbook and RACI, standardizing methodologies to enhance vehicle efficiency, reduce shipment volume, and minimize transportation costs.
  • Prepare and participate in onsite events such as Distribution Center visits, Manufacturing plant visits, Summits, and Workshops.
  • Maintain and update content within the centralized Viva Engage Community, including links, documents, events, and responses to inquiries.
  • Generate and distribute executive-level performance summaries that highlight global load factor metrics, shipment efficiency, and cost savings for site and regional leadership.
  • Lead performance reviews with leadership to ensure accountability and realization of logistics improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Reporting & Operational Excellence teams to improve data quality and enhance load factor dashboards in Power BI.
  • Establish governance procedures, create SOPs, and document new standards to sustain improvements.
Capabilities & Experience
  • Logistics Expertise: Experience in customer logistics, logistics packaging, transportation (multi-modal), and load planning.
  • Project Experience: Proven success implementing logistics efficiency projects such as trailer utilization optimization and innovative packaging solutions.
  • Project Leadership: Ability to create structure and frameworks around project management, define scope and deliverables, and manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Analytics & Tools: Proficiency in Power BI, SAP, and transportation management systems with strong skills in data analysis and visualization.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across Planning, Manufacturing, Distribution, Packaging, Procurement, DA&A, and IT teams.
Project Management Responsibilities
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and full savings reduction opportunities.
  • Develop detailed project plans with timelines, milestones, and dependencies.
  • Identify and manage critical project risks.
  • Create templates and tools to manage project stages across multiple workstreams (people, supply chain, systems, communications).
  • Leverage automated data sources (e.g., Power BI) for tracking and reporting.
  • Coordinate internal resources across Transportation, Manufacturing, Distribution, Planning, Packaging, Procurement, DA&A, and IT.
  • Provide stakeholder communications and executive report-outs on initiative progress.
Additional Details
  • The role requires minimal work direction and expects independent leadership of global logistics initiatives.
  • The Project Manager will manage global supply of critical raw materials, provide process support to Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) processes, and create demand and supply plans.
  • Responsibilities also include managing key process indices, supporting reporting processes for demand planning, order management, inventory, and financial reporting, and overseeing the global non-working inventory (NWI) management process.
  • This position is based in Minnesota with required domestic and international travel, particularly during initial project rollout phases and Load Factor Roadshow events at key facilities.
  • Flexibility across international time zones is required.
