Job Title: Senior SQL Server Infrastructure DBA

3 Days in office open to any Hub Location
Project Overview:

This role supports a strategic initiative to onboard SQL Servers from teams currently managing their own infrastructure. The goal is to centralize and standardize SQL Server management across the organization, ensuring consistency, security, and scalability.
Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior SQL Server Infrastructure DBA to lead efforts in evaluating, building, and migrating SQL Server environments. This role requires deep technical expertise in SQL Server infrastructure, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to coordinate complex migrations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working cross-functionally to support enterprise-level database initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate existing SQL Server environments and assess readiness for migration.
  • Build and configure new SQL Server instances according to enterprise standards.
  • Coordinate and execute migrations from legacy or self-managed systems to centralized infrastructure.
  • Design and implement backup, recovery, archiving, and conversion strategies.
  • Manage physical databases and maintain data definitions across production and non-production environments.
  • Ensure database distribution, security, and access controls are properly implemented.
  • Monitor performance and provide tuning recommendations to optimize system efficiency.
  • Provide application support including issue analysis, resolution, and on-call support.
  • Collaborate with development and QA teams to ensure database reliability and performance.
  • Document procedures, configurations, and maintenance instructions.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide guidance on database design and best practices.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a SQL Server Infrastructure DBA.
  • Proven expertise in SQL Server setup, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of database performance monitoring and tuning.
  • Experience with clustering and high availability solutions.
  • Familiarity with disaster recovery planning and implementation.
  • Solid troubleshooting skills and experience with resource migrations.
  • Knowledge of client/server environments and integration with programming languages (e.g., Visual Basic, Java).
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with UDB, Oracle, Progress, or Access in a client/server environment.
  • Familiarity with logical and physical database design principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
