Job Title: Senior SQL Developer (PostgreSQL)

Job Type: 6 to 12 months Contract

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced SQL Developer with strong expertise in PostgreSQL to design, develop, optimize, and maintain robust database solutions. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of database architecture, query optimization, performance tuning, and data integration. This role requires close collaboration with application developers, data engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure efficient and scalable database systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain complex PostgreSQL databases, schemas, tables, views, indexes, triggers, and stored procedures.

Write efficient SQL queries, functions, and scripts for data manipulation, reporting, and automation.

Optimize queries and database performance, including indexing, partitioning, and query tuning.

Implement and maintain ETL processes for data integration between multiple sources and systems.

Ensure data quality, consistency, and security across all environments.

Collaborate with application teams to design scalable database solutions that align with business needs.

Perform database monitoring, capacity planning, and troubleshooting of issues.

Work with cloud-based database environments (AWS RDS, Azure Database, or Google Cloud Platform Cloud SQL) if required.

Participate in database migrations, upgrades, and version management.

Implement backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies.

Document database structures, processes, and best practices for internal knowledge sharing.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

8+ years of experience as a SQL Developer with hands-on expertise in PostgreSQL.

Strong proficiency in SQL, PL/pgSQL, and database design principles.

Deep experience with query optimization and performance tuning.

Solid understanding of relational database concepts, normalization, indexing, and transactions.

Experience with ETL tools and data migration strategies.

Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and database services (RDS, Aurora, Cloud SQL, etc.).

Familiarity with data security, compliance, and auditing standards.

Hands-on experience with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):

Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, etc).

Exposure to Big Data platforms ( Spark, Hadoop, Snowflake, Redshift ).

Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and database deployment in cloud-native environments.

Experience in data warehousing and business intelligence tools.
