Overview

iDirect Government is a leading ground systems provider to the military satellite industry. We offer platforms connecting a variety of satellite constellations with an array of hub and remote terminal products. Terminals are installed on aircraft, maritime vessels, and other ground-based military and government assets. These terminals provide internet and voice connectivity to remote and austere locations where traditional ground and cellular based infrastructure is unavailable.

iDirect Government is seeking an experienced Systems Sales Engineer with a proven track record of success. This individual must be ready for the challenges, responsibilities and rewards that come with working in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Serves as the pre and post sales technical and process expert with extensive knowledge of IP networking. Knowledge of IP over satellite TDMA technologies a plus. Support new and ongoing sales activities by assisting federal government and military customers with planning, engineering and implementation of iDirect Government technologies within enterprise satellite EoIP network environments.

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Acts in a consultative role to customers and partners designing satellite-based IP networks.
  • Works with account managers to ensure a comprehensive understanding of client's business and technical needs.
  • Removes technical inhibitors to closing the sale through follow-through and research to address customer concerns.
  • Based on customer input, works with the client to develop sizing estimates and cost-effective, quality technical solutions.
  • Participate in government conducted technical testing in accordance with designated test procedures on iDirect communication systems for both fixed, tactical and aircraft platforms.
  • Provides technical advice and guidance to customers on solutions development.
  • Perform system and iDirect Government equipment integration in accordance with government-approved documentation, drawings, test plans and procedures for fixed, tactical, and mobile platforms.
  • Participate in mission planning and develop solutions to support world-wide missions.
  • Provides guidance on deal strategy and technical solutions development based on expertise and understanding of the satellite and IP industries.


Qualifications

The successful candidate must have:
  • An excellent knowledge of enterprise LAN/WAN architecture,
  • Previous sales engineering or customer facing technical support experience preferred.
  • A familiarity with various enterprise applications and networking devices (Cisco, etc.).
  • A mastery of IP networking skills.
  • An awareness of or ability to quickly learn about satellite communication concepts.
  • The ability to coordinate iDirect Government products and features with business values.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Knowledge of voice and video applications specific to IP networks.
  • The ability to act in a consultative role to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Working knowledge of common network operating systems (Linux, etc.)
  • Must have previous sales engineering experience (Federal Experience a must).
  • The ability to travel, up 50 %.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in scientific, technical or management discipline and 5 years' related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience designing and implementing IP and/or satellite networks is a definite plus.
Clearance: Active DoD clearance or ability to obtain a secret DoD clearance.
